Flan-tastic!
Today I have made a strawberry flan, woopee!
Later on I plan to cosy up on the sofa with my afghan blankie, both dogs at my feet, piece of flan in hand, G&T nearby and watch:
The Secret Garden on Channel 5 @ 5.15pm – an enchanting film
Dr Who on BBC 1 @ 7.05pm – last episode in series, sigh, can Martha save the world?
Jekyll on BBC 1 @ 9pm – Dr Jackman and Mr Hyde.
Fanta-tastic!
I was going to post these pictures of Fanta, a friends daughter’s horse, when they were looking to loan her out, however she got snapped up straight away because she is such a beautiful and clever horse. So now I am posting them just because she is Fanta-tastic.
I adore horses and had riding lessons a couple of years ago which I really enjoyed but we have no room or spare cash for a horse (just now) but I live in eternal hope.

Common Emerald Moth
This morning on my way out to work I found a species of moth on my car that I had never seen before, so I took a couple of pictures of it, and then looked it up to discover it was a Common Emerald Moth (Hemithea aestivaria).
This moth has a wingspan of 24-27 mm with distinctively shaped and chequered fringes. It flies from dusk onwards, in June and July, around woodland and hedgerows, and occurs in the southern half of Britain.
As you can see from the faded colour and tattered wings my moth was feeling a bit weary, however, our chance encounter left me quite uplifted as it fluttered away.
Back to Work
1. Got ready for work this morning went out to the car and discovered I had a flat tyre. Was hour and a half late for work.
2. Got into work to discover I had 2718 e-mails in my inbox – I’d only been away a fortnight, but then we have been having significant IT problems.
3. Then discovered that the job I am very interested in has been advertised over the last two weeks whilst I was out of the office, and the deadline for completed applications is today. I have until 11.59pm tonight to submit an 11 page electronic application that is good enough to make it through short-listing. I can’t start it until I get home which will be around 6.30pm.
4. Worked through lunch.
5. Rubbish journey home in rush hour.
6. It is now 11.15pm I have just submitted the application. I’ve been on the go since 7.15am.
7. I am on-call all week.
8. I really hate Mondays.

Les Jardins Suspendus de Marqueyssac
Sarlat – Capital of the Perigord Noir
Another interesting and beautiful place we visited whilst in France was the medieval walled town of Sarlat, which in the old centre is a warren of winding alleyways lined with very old and ornate houses and a cathedral.
We also discovered a shop which had a rather unusual window display which tickled me, a fox on a wicker bicycle with a goat riding pillion behind it, how very bizarre!

100 Days Held Hostage
Thousands of BBC staff are making a vigil today, Wednesday 20th June, marking 100 days since Alan Johnston was kidnapped in Gaza.
A deadline for his release passed on Monday with no progress.
His captors have denied reaching a deal with Hamas for his release, but acknowledged that there have been “developments” in meetings with Hamas.
To sign a petition for his immediate release just click on the Alan Johnston Button on my side bar which will take you to the BBC webpage and online petition.
